2020 Year Wines 'Sausage in Bread' Red Blend

McLaren Vale, South Australia

The name pretty much says it all. Sometimes all we want is a sausage in bread. With tom sauce. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mataro, it's juicy as perfectly cooked snag, with fine tannins and crunchy almost biting acidity. Sour cherry amaro vibes. Must be prefaced that the majority of grapes sourced for this were organically farmed, but a smaller component of vines did use herbicide (no pesticides were used). Zero additions in the winemaking.

About the maker

Caleigh and Luke are another winemaking love story. The duo fly pretty well under the radar, but their wines are anything but. Focused on strong organic and biodynamic vineyard principles and playful yet minimal winemaking techniques.

The two met when Caleigh came to experience an Australian vintage after working in the wine industry in Canada. Meanwhile Luke was at this same winery dragging hoses around. Fast forward six years and they have a son, daughter, a mortgage, a sporadically producing kitchen garden and some odd-ball pets. Their focus and core is on creating integrally made wines, all the while creating light-hearted, food worthy drinks.
