2019 Ngarto Skinsy Chardonnay

Mount Barker, South Australia

The epic collaboration between our favourite chef and farmers continues this year. This is one of three. A skinsy Chardonnay, hand-harvested and grown on the summit vineyard (380m elev.) on sandy loam over clay and sandstone soil. Elevage in old French oak for 8 months. She is saline, savour, gentle and a more subtle Chardonnay flavour than Ngeringa's entry-level. We get delicious creamy cashews with oodles of texture.

About the maker

Ngarto is a little collaboration between Ngeringa and Carto using some unique vineyard sites in the Mount Lofty Ranges just outside of Adelaide.

Erinn and Janet Klein, are both winemakers behind the lovely Ngeringa located in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Their farm has been certified biodynamic for over 20 years and there they create oils, wines and vegetables. They have an immense passion for working with in tandem with the land and it's evident in the vitality, depth and delicate nature of their wines. Carto is a little project by Sydney-based chef Brendan Cato. Sourcing grapes from around New South Wales for his own organic and lively wines, he also travels to Ngeringa to assist with their vintage and together made this collaborative wine Ngarto.
