2019 Kerri Greens 'Laze' Chardonnay

Mornington Pensinula, Victoria

From the boys' home block in Duke, 2/3 of these rich Chard grapes were pressed and sent to old French barriques to ferment wild on full solids. 1/3 was left as whole bunches and fermented carbonic for 14 days before basket pressing, combined a month before bottling. Cooler climate makes for beautiful acid line and rich fruit Chard flavours.

About the maker

What began as a bit of fun and enthusiasm between Lucas Blanck and Tom McCarthy, has now turned into a lifestyle and business of tending to wise and old vineyards around Victoria.

Spanning the Mornington Peninsula, these two have three sites around the Mornington Peninsula. All the vineyards are tended to with tight sustainable practices including no irrigation, pruning techniques promoting longevity and fruit intensity not yields, mowing undervine to avoid herbicide and things like canopy management and spraying regimes under organic principles. In the cellar these guys are completely hands-off. They want their wines to showcase these cool climate elegant wines.
