2019 Halcyon Days 'Gris-Noir' Blend

It's Halcyon Days 2nd vintage, but by god have they knocked us all out of the park. This is their version of an orange wine. A blend of skinsy Pinot Gris and whole bunch fermented Pinot Noir, it has supple structure, super delicious primary fruit and one Campbell's favourite of the year. On the nose you should get a complex mix of honey, dried citrus peel, dried apricots and quince. On the palate pithy citrus texture, succulent red berries and blood orange fruit.

About the maker

Released in Australia for the first time this year, Amy and Olly Styles are a warm duo in New Zealand with a rich passion for the art of winemaking

Both Amy and Olly are extremely talented people, sourcing grapes from really unique plots land in New Zealand. For their first two years of Halcyon Days, the fruit has been purchased from an organic site in the Matahangi sub region. The soils are comprised of red gravel beneath loam, the altitude of around 300m makes for cooler climate. The wines are favour full yet fresh. Despite lower alcohol levels, they have fantastic structure and length. The acidity is present and the fruit is 'intoxicatingly delicious' according to importer Campbell Burton.
