2019 Gazzetta 'G05' Procanico Ansonica

Trish Nelson, having worked at the likes of Cantina Giardino and Le Coste, is now making her own mark in the natural wine aether. Surrounded by Europe's largest volcanic lake, the sands are sand and ash, leaving incredible minerality driven through each wine. G05 is a nod to the traditions of the area with the marriage of local grapes and a chestnut barrel. A blend of mainly Procanico with a smaller amounts of Ansonica, 10 days on skins until the sugar was finished and then moved into barrel until bottling in August 2020. Citrus, burnt candy and sherbet. Intense grip. A serious wine. Med acidity, med+ dry. Stunning golden hue.

About the maker

Gazzetta is Patricia Nelson's small project making wine on the hills of Bolsena Lake, Lazio.

After working at Cantina Giardino, Le Coste and collaborating with Ajola, Trilli's first vintage was 2017. Trish Nelson lives in a small cottage in Località Gazzetta in the hills above the village of Bolsena in Lazio’s north. It's there, next to the largest volcanic lake in Europe, where the climate is temperate from both the neighbouring mountain breeze and Mediterranean sea. The soils which are composed mainly of volcanic ash and sand, impose a varying minerality in each wine. Trish works with herbal teas from local plants to farm organically, wines are completely additive free and hands-off, leaving pure and delicate terroir expressive wines.
