About the maker
Established in 2015 by Hirotaka and Reina Meguro in an old gymnasium at the foot of the Zao Federation mountain range, Fattoria al Fiore is a Japanese winemaking project of precision and care. Reina & Hirotaka make their wines as naturally as possible. There are no additives used, no fining or filtration either. Production is extremely small and so allocations are very limited.
Fattoria Al Fiore which means 'single flower' in Japanese is named after Hirotaka's former restaurant. Grapes in the region are both difficult to source and grow, so every grape is treated with respect and each bottle number hand written and dyed using persimmon fruit. The wines incorporate vnifera and labrusca grapes, known as hybrid / table grapes including varieties like Delaware, Steuben and Niagara. Extremely delicate wines, matching perfectly with the subtle flavours of Japanese cuisine.See the Fattoria Al Fiore collection here
