2019 Commune of Buttons 'Pretty Fun' Pet-Nat

Basket Range, South Australia

It does what it says and says what it is. A pretty fun drink. Mainly Chardonnay grapes from the Basket Range and a dollop of Pinot Gris from 18 year old vines in Mt Torrens, with alluvial soils. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed to stainless tank for fermentation, bottled with 18 grams of residual sugar letting the fermentation complete in bottle with final residual sugar of 1g/L. Creamy, mouth-filling yet still detailed feel.

About the maker

Another Basket Range powerful duo, Jasper and Sophie Button are siblings making beautiful wine from organic grapes.

Jasper and Sophie Button are a brother and sister team, making wine from their family vineyard in the Basket Range sub-region of the Adelaide Hills. Jasper grew up in the Basket Range region in the Adelaide Hills and helped to plant twelve acres of vines on the family farm when he was just 10 years of age. The grapes were originally farmed to sell to wineries, but after struggling in later years to find the right wineries to buy them, the Buttons decided to start marking wine under their own label. The grapes are grown organically by their mum, they are cool climate grapes like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. All the wines are made with minimal intervention and a lot of love, inspired by the surrounding community of frivolous and passionate winemakers.
