2019 Chateau Acid Chardonnay

Simon and Charlie have switched it up a bit in 2019, turning to Chardonnay in face of a Vermentino scarcity. Half the wine spends 10 months on skins in amphora and half direct pressed to old barriques. It's then rested in bottle for 10 months. Light yellow in colour, soft on the palate, textural and silky. Aromas run wild with apples, pears and lemon acidity that is gentle but has 'big icy pole energy'. Only 12 available, max one per person plz. X

About the maker

Charlie O’Brien and Simon Jones decided one day to set out and create a fun label that spoke to people instantly, choosing a name that played on the mid 80s and early 90s underground cultural movement.

Sourcing organic and biodynamic grapes from the Central Ranges in New South Wales, Chateau Acid is a partnership that captures the passion of two good mates. Charlie also produces some pretty cool music, DJs regularly in Sydney and casually runs a non-for-profit called Heaps Decent that engages young people through music. What started as a 650 bottle first vintage, is now growing and improving with the 2018 release of the bianco, rosé and red.
