2018 Radikon 'Sivi' Pinot Grigio

Friuli, Italy

Radikon are Michellin recommended wines and are one of the path forgers in the late 90s for the resurgence of orange (skin contact white) wines. Stanko first experimented with an ancient technique of macerating whites and their wines today have around three months on skins, along with long periods of barrel and bottle ageing. A full bodied Pinot Grigio is grown in Ponca, or flysch soil driving exceptional minerality through the wine. Candied fruit, tangerine, and spice over a savoury pithy texture, immense freshness, high acidity and easy drinkability.

2018 Radikon 'Sivi' Pinot Grigio
About the maker

The wines produced by the late Stanislao (Stanko) Radikon and his son Saša have inspired a devoted following of winemakers, critics and consumers from all parts of the globe.

Radikon, close to the Slovenia border in Italy, seeks to create natural and uncomprising wine, free of chemical pesticides, temperature-controlled fermentation and sulfur and biodynamic or organic viticulture. In 1995, Stanko began the long journey of returning to the tyle his grandfather followed, one of extended maceration periods, the use of oak barrels, manual harvesting and extended barrel ageing. Eventually with no sulfur by 2002. Now in the courageous and delicate hands of Sasa, these wines are very unique and hold a special place in many hearts around the world.
