2018 Finca Parera 'El Clar' White Blend

Ruben and his father Jordi are starting to really elevate their natural wine game and from a distinct part of Spain. A blend of Xarel·lo (80) and the remaining percentage with Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Malvasia de Sitges, Parellada and Garnatxa Blanca from old and young vines. A long time on skins and stems (until the following year Spring) before being pressed off to clay amphora. Creamy, salty with strong lemon meringue or lemon pie vibes. Lovely salinity and oodles of texture. It's a real treat to drink and would perfect with some light cheeses or nibbles as a starter wine.

In one of the most exciting regions in Spain for natural wine from one of the biggest natural wine advocates in Spain, comes Finca Parera.

Ruben Parera and his father Jordi are at he forefront of the natural wine movement in Spain. Having been born into a farming family (fourth generation) Ruben is now back in the paddock after setting up a natural wine bar in Barcelona. Their vineyards are located in the Upper Penedès defined by high-altitude, mountains and low grape yields. But the quality is off the charts. The Pareras' vines are planted in mostly calcareous-clay soil. They have young vines as well as vines around 78 years old. Ruben converted his family's 10-hectare estate from organic to biodynamic in 2013 and they now farm cherries, almonds and olives, in addition to grapes.
