2018 Dirty Black Denim Sous Voile Sauvignon

Heathcote, Victoria

Huge melon, apricot and even sake vibes. A wine that went from right to wrong and then back to right. The story, well one solo barrel of Sunbury Sauvignon went a bit 'rogue'. Sitting on gross less for 23 months, not topped and under flor (this is where a unique yeast grows on top of the juice preventing it from oxidising, the whole time. What does this mean? Essentially you get this floral, cool, quirky Sauvignon that tastes more of Moscato than Sav. Super delicious and extremely unique.

About the maker

Dirty Black Denim is the Victorian winemaking project of Tim and Lawrence Scanlon.

We haven't yet been able to meet with Lawrence and Tim, but what they're doing all the right things and their wines are of immense value for both the taste factor and quality of fruit sources. Their aim is to 'make wines that should be drunk from a mug or tumbler in a park with your mates'. All of the wine is made with the usual minimal intervention manner of natural winemakers (small and occasional sulphur at bottling) and they source fruit from a range of sites across Vic. Some organic, others not, but the focus is on expression of terroir and alternate winemaking styles.
