2018 Chekura Mingaco Moscatel

If you have never tried the Moscatel variety, this is the place to start. Farmed without imported principles of biodynamic/organic viticulture from overseas, Daniella and Pablo create their own preparations from native flora. The wine is uniquely aged outdoors in fibreglass vats. The wine has strong stone and fresh fruit flavours, still softly savoury, textural but doesn't fall away in the mouth. It's one of our favourite Chilean wines we've tasted.

About the maker

Situated in a picturesque valley is the town of Chekura, where lies a small parcel of beautiful and strong vineyards as part of Daniella and Pablo's farm Mingaco.

Daniella and Pablo live and breathe the phrase minimal impact. The couple eat vegan, their buildings are made out of clay and mud for both better insulation when storing the wine and also generally to lower their environmental impact, avoid any use of fertilisers, glyphosates and irrigation across the land. Their wines are a strong and pure expression when it comes to Chilean native varieties like Moscatel.
