2017 Little Reddie Bannockburn Shiraz

Only a few cases left of this 2019 release, it's a delicate, perfumed Shiraz driven by fruit and spice. Pat notes that 2017 was overall lighter in weight, healthy acidity and had wonderful complexity of flavour and phenolics. Most of the fruit was fermented and de-stemmed, whilst a small layer of whole bunches were incorporated with gentle foot pressing. Rested in stainless steel for a month before moving to older, large format French oak.

About the maker

Similarly to Oscar Hermann (Combes Wine), Pat Underwood's kindling for his wine obsession came from Melbourne's City Wine Shop. Over the last few years he has honed in his winemaking skills and now producing a few exceptional wines.

Pat runs his negotiant winemaking project out of Colbinabbin and Malmsbury in Victoria. He sources fruit from sites that resonate with him, but of special note are the Bannockburn sites that are minuscule in size, chemical and systemic free and low yielding. Not only a talented hand, but immensely is immensely dedicated to making wine in a minimal intervention manner, that ensures the wines are a true representation of a season and place.
