2017 AOC Arbois Domaine de la Touraize 'Côtes à Côtes' Red Blend

Jura, France

60% Trousseau grown on rich gravel on marl, and 40% Pinot Noir grown on grey marl. Short carbonic maceration, 6-8 days. Aged in tanks. Beautiful light colour – screams summer. Served from fridge. On opening there is a slight reduction, but it blows off quick enough. Decant if need be. Lots of red fruits, raspberries and hints of spice. Quite fragrant and floral, lots of red roses. Very fresh in the mouth. Light, nice fine tannins, and soft sweet red berries, with a mineral line running right through it. Lots of subtle detail, which gives the wine interest, and makes it more than just glou glou. The slight savouriness is good, as it keeps the sweetness of the fruit in check. Tannins are super fine on finish, giving chalky grip. Thanks to Ryan Larkin for the notes.
