2016 Partida Creus 'SP' Subirat Parent (Malvasia)

Cataluña, Spain

Subirat Parent is a near-extinct grape variety that is related to Malvasia. Farmed organically, fermented using wild yeasts and no filtering or fining, it’s both light in body and tannins, notes of grapefruit, lemon or orange zest and dried fruit. Described as some to be not unlike cold tea and comes in at a ridiculous 10% alcohol content.

2016 Partida Creus 'SP' Subirat Parent (Malvasia)
About the maker

Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona are both Italian architects originally from Piedmont. Around the year 2000, they moved out to the country in search of a “slower” lifestyle. Now making a bit a of cult wine.

Partida Creus produce a very limited quantity and high-end original wines. The initiative was started in 2007 by Massimo and Antonella, they refurbished an old agricultural building, converting it into a cellar with recycled materials and solid structures. Since then they are strong and shining leaders in both the recovery and preservation of Bonastre’s viniculture heritage in the Baix Penedès region. In the field, their jobs are shared with Orazio and Vincenza, a donkey and a mare. They seem to love engaging in traditional workmanship and are environmentally conscious on every level possible.
