About the maker
In one of the most exciting parts of the Loire, Clos Roche Blanche, the history of the Clos dates back to the late 19th century, when Catherine's family first planted vines.
After Catherine Roussel retired in 2014, Didier Barouillet took over and started what is now Julien Pineau. Surrounded by forest, the vineyards stretch out over gentle slopes, and are extremely pretty. Flowers are everywhere, birds, butterflies, bees, grasshoppers, all sorts of insects. The vines vary in age, with some of the oldest Pineau d'Aunis in the area up to 120 years old. Although not certified, Didier uses biodynamic principles and preparations throughout. The wines are energetic, elevated and very Loire. The high quality, prominent fruit and etherial delicacy.See the Julien Pineau collection here
