2013 Pacina Rosso Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo Blend

Tuscany, Italy

Pacina is an old monastery that dates back to 900 A.D. The extremely rare 2013 Rosso is an older wine that has been kept for various lengths of time between cement vats, old oak and bottle. A blend of Sangiovese (97) and Canaiolo e Ciliegiolo (3). On the nose the wine is complex, but in the mouth it's delicate, aromatic and tannin centric with ripe dark berries from the forest floor. It's clearly still a natural because it has that punk attitude, but commands respect from all winemaking fronts for its incredible characteristics.

About the maker

Giovanna and Stefano live and breathe agronomic care. They have a profound love for the land and environment, guiding them through all their decisions in the vineyard cultivation.

Pacina is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, along the ancient road that connected Arezzo and Siena. Their love for the land is made evident by the fact they produce renowned olive oil and cultivate vegetables, cereals and other fruits. They work mainly with Sangiovese grapes, Canaiolo, Colorino, Trebbiano del Chianti and Malvasia.
