Schnabel

Located in southern Styria lies these incredible undulating hills of quartz and flint, where organic farming has been carried out for generations and not one additive has been introduced to the winemaking since 2007.

Farming an array of Riesling, Morillon (Chardonnay), Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Pinot Noir, Karl and Eva Schnabel firmly believe that the vineyard will give you most of the remedies you'll need in the fight against disease and to encourage life in the vineyard that does that and a combination of nettle, horsetail and the quartz itself are used in doing so. In the their own words 'the wines are a cultural asset according to original tradition'. They are uncompromising in both the field and the cellar, with no additions of sulphur or any additives, nor chemical or technical manipulation. They regard both the Sausal soil and the handwriting of the winemaker are reflected through such beautiful wines.
