Focusing on biodynamically cultivating 100+ year old Catalan varieties in Roussillon, Domaine Matassa was formed back in 2002 by New Zealander Tom Lubbe.
The Matassa brand has built an extremely reputable name amongst the natural winemaking community and rightly so. The wines have changed significantly over the years following an improvement in the health of the vineyard due to Tom's profound care for them. As a natural progression so too have things changed in the cellar. Domaine Matassa is distinguished not purely because of these beautifully maintained old Catalan varietals and vines, but also his sense of adventure and experimentation with the wines. A warning note, these wines are not your classical southern French wines, they are low yielding, excruciatingly terroir driven wines.
