Il Censo

Located close to the Sicilian town of Palazzo Adriano, Gaetano Gargano’s family have owned the ‘Il Censo’ property for over 200 years. Sicilian masterpieces.

Originally producing olives, grains, legumes and vines which were planted to Malvasia Nera & Perricone varieties. With the counsel of Giampiero Bea, the Gargano family has replanted hillside vineyards to two local grape varieties: Cataratto (white) and Perricone (black), also known in local dialect as “njuro cani” (black dog). The vineyard is managed organically, comprised of 5 hectares at a cracking 700 meters altitude, giving way to striking acidity and protecting the wines from any volatility.
