2019 Bobar 'Melange A Trois' White Blend

Yarra Valley, Victoria

A textural, stone fruit, honey esque beautiful white blend. A mix of Semillon (60), Riesling (30) and Gewurztraminer (10). Although the fruit has been sourced from a conventionally farmed vineyard, the vines are free from herbicide. From gravelly, boney soils of the Rising vineyard in the Christmas Hills, on the western side of the Yarra Valley. Semillon is direct-pressed and wild-fermented in an old puncheon. The Riesling and Gewurz are co-fermented. After a seven day whole bunch maceration (that's skins, stems, pips and all amongst the juice), they are pressed and transferred to old hogshead. The whole lot went through malolactic fermentation, then racked, minimal SO2.

About the maker

Tom and Sally Belford aim to produce wines that both represent the minimal intervention movement and a strong sense of origin, however, they also want to continue to release wines that delight.

After spending time on various vintages throughout South-East Australia and France, Tom and Sally Belford released their first wine in 2010. As with the other winemakers on our site, they stick with naturally occurring yeasts and bacteria, avoid heating or cooling the wines and bottled without fining or filtration. Their wines are light, fragrant and savoury consistently year on year.
