Practically in Switzerland, the Perego family have been vignerons since 1860, tending to vines on these sheer granite terraces in the mountainous Valtellina alps.

The family work exclusively with Nebbiolo, or Chiavennasca as it is called in their local dialect. Production is very much of the old-school, with intensive labour required up and down the hills, with some parts barely reachable. Everything in the vineyard is done by hand and in the cellar the family show incredible patience and have refined their techniques to an art over the years. The area is south-facing with sunlit vines that grow straight out of rock. Resulting in an intensely mineral, cool climate (bright and fresh) tasting fruit.
