2018 Laurent Saillard 'Lucky You' Sauvignon Blanc

Loire Valley, France

80% Sauvignon Blanc/20% Chardonnay from a parcel of vines planted within the Clos Roche Blanche in 1973. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks with a touch of sulphur added before bottling. This was one of the wines that started it all. This wine is made without any other additives and has some round tropical fruit notes that you would expect from a high-end Sauvignon Blanc, but it possesses far more on a big wedge of citrus acid. Fresh as a cucumber, citrusy yet mild with a characterful floral & perfume kicks. 13.2%.

French Sauvignon Blanc Loire Valley Organic Wine
About the maker

After starting one of the first natural wine bars in New York, Laurent tends organically to several small plots of Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay and Pineau d’Aunis in Pouillé. His wines are both wildly addictive and capture a refreshing, casual approach.

Laurent is on a constant pursuit for wines that show off nature at its best, with an inherent deep understanding of each vintage, grape and individual site from which they originate. The wines are always fun, light hearted and a pleasure to drink, but also extremely considered and well executed. His first vintage was in 2012 and since then he has sold almost all his wine to his restaurant friends in New York (In particular Wildair, Contra, Four Horsemen). He has since doubled his vineyard holdings (now 6ha) yet still works the vines by hand all by himself.
