2017 La Grange aux Belles VDF 'Coup de Boule' Pet-Nat

Loire Valley, France

A refreshing Gamay and Grolleau - rosé - sparkling. Vivid notes from Ryan Larkin: Great aromas. Loire for sure. Schist and raspberries, plus sweet cherries, delicate herbs and red apple skin. Mineral and tonic-like, but then the sweet fruit comes through as time passes. And not sugary sweet, just like delicious sweet berries. Acidity is low-medium, so makes for very easy drinking. It finishes with good length and ample tension. The bubbles are strong too, and stay this way for 2 or 3 days after opening. It stays fresh, and is a great option for pouring. Dry, crisp and fresh!

About the maker

Marc, Julian and Gérald are the trio behind Le Grange aux Belles farming organically with herbal infusions such as nettles, horsetail and buckthorn.

La Grange aux Belles is a 15-hectare organic estate, with vineyards spread over 5 communes in the AOC Coteaux de l'Aubance. Marc Houtin created the domaine back in 2004. Since 2007 Marc and Julien Brestau have worked hard to convert all their farming to organic, whilst continuing to re-plant vines and expand their plots. The sub soils consist of elements like schist, silt and clay on top. This environment is quite dry, with very little rain and a lot of heat. The wines are always reflective of the climate, the grapes, the soil and the topography.
